Every ★ Ursus Knife | Case Hardened · Blue Gem has the same paint_index — but the pattern seed (0–999) controls exactly how the dye lands on the blade. Two listings can have the same wear and float but look dramatically different.
The cards below compare a typical Unranked roll (seed #990) against the Tier-1 hero we picked (seed #618). Same skin, same phase, same wear band — pattern is the only difference.

About Blue Gem patterns
Ursus Knife Case Hardened applies the marbled steel finish to a broad, flat blade where a fully-blue play side stands out dramatically. The seed sets the blue coverage; the blue-dominant rolls are the Blue Gems.
Seed #494 is the apex Ursus Blue Gem — one of only six Tier-1 seeds, with a near-fully-blue blade, valued around $4k in Well-Worn. Lower tiers progressively let more gold bleed onto the visible side.

The best patterns in this skin. Tightest symmetry, deepest coverage, and the visual hallmarks that separate top-shelf examples from everything else.

If a seed isn’t listed in T1–T4 or BTA above, treat it as Unranked.
